Question 1 What is it about research as a career that interests you the most? In which subject area(s) would you like to pursue research? What led you to choose this area of research? Response to Question 1 Iam curious about the drug related studies and wish to have a dive deep study on same The ongoing outbreak of the novel human coronavirus SARS-CoV (also known as 2019-nCoV) has become a global health concern. Rapid and ease-to-use diagnostic techniques are urgently needed to diagnose SARS- CoV infection. One of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is to develop accurate and rapid diagnostic tests. Selects one unknown bacterium to culture, examines by light microscopy, and identifies by DNA sequence analysis. Multiple steps of PCR are used to extract prime. This review focuses on how primers and probes can be designed methodically and rationally and how the sensitivity and specificity of the detection can be improved. Amplification of DNA or RNA sequences using the PCR or RT-PCR requires an appropriate length to be designed. The restriction primers of bacteria were selected and used as primers in PCR and RT-PCR. We can observe positive DNA amplifications with the recombinant genomic DNA. Purified RNA was used as a template in the RT-PCR with the primers and we can obtain successful DNA amplification. This result will suggest that bacterial restriction primers can be useful for detection of covid 19 in PCR. Diagnostics are an important part of the toolbox for dealing with outbreaks because they enable healthcare workers to direct resources and efforts to patients with COVID-19. This process can curb the spread of infectious pathogens and reduce mortality. Question 2 Describe any project, or laboratory experiment, or research-oriented training programme that you have been involved in. Please highlight the aspects that you particularly enjoyed. Response to Question 2 Project Lectins are the proteins that bind to carbohydrate and sugar containing substance in specific and reversible way or precipitate glycol-conjugates. Lectins were first described in 1888 by Stillmark, who observed that crude extracts of castor beans (Ricinus communis) contained a toxic substance named ricin that agglutinate human and animal red blood cells. Lectins are named as agglutinins because of their characteristic property of agglutinating cells such as erythrocytes binding to specific receptors present on the surface of the cells. The lectins was isolated from the prunus dulcis (almond). The isolated lectin was named as prunus dulcis nut raw lectin. The biochemical parameters performed in the present study provides important information regarding some of the physico-chemical properties such as haemagglutination assay, temperature, salt, sugar, PH stability, thermal stability and the stability of the lectins towards denaturing agent, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, MIC. Based on the biochemical studies the isolated lectins shows moderate activity for human blood group and animal goat. Haemagglutination inhibition assay showed positive results for glucose, sucrose, xylose and maltose. Temperature, pH, denaturing agent showed it unstable nature. The antioxidant activity shows good results confirmed by IC50 value and very good results obtained for anti-inflammatory activity. Anti-bacterial activity of prunus dulcis nut raw lectin was good with streptococcus oralis and streptococcus pyogenes having capacity to reduce oral pathogen infection. Question 3 State the reasons on why you want to opt for JNCASR for your advanced research / academic studies. Response to Question 3 Thank you for providing an opportunity to state the reason. It is a well-known multidisciplinary research institute. In the department of Molecular Biology And Genetics Unit (school of biological science), apart from areas of infectious diseases you have provided several current areas of cell and molecular biology, developmental genetics and biochemistry, also clinical and translational studies. Your institute offers a wide variety of organisms including, viruses, yeast, protozoan’s, Drosophila and mouse as well as human clinical samples for the research studies under biological concepts. Your facilities, funding and training programs are geared to promote cross-disciplinary interactions. Publications of the faculty members are very inspiring, so I would like to be a member of your honorable MBGU of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre Of Advanced Scientific Research. |
