Question 1 What is it about research as a career that interests you the most? In which subject area(s) would you like to pursue research? What led you to choose this area of research? Response to Question 1 Research as a career is really very important. At one place you are delving deep into the realms of unknown findings and that too of your passion. On the other hand we go to add something new for our society. We also came to know a whole lot of things of our domain too. Besides this , it gives a good remuneration at the time of job too. So, according to me all these things make research very interesting. I would like to do research in Organic Synthesis and use that drug in medicinal chemistry for the benefit of mankind. I would like to do research for the synthesis of antimicrobial agents, antifungal agents etc. I am also interested in CADD( Computer Aided Drug Designing) , this technique is used for the rapid assessment of chemical libraries in order to guide the early stage development of new active compounds. During my MSc , I was having a project and in that I have synthesized a drug containing a Thiazole Moiety, I also used CADD for docking of ligand with protein. During my 6 months of project work I driven into this dream. I want to extend my knowledge and want to go into the depth in upcoming years. Question 2 Describe any project, or laboratory experiment, or research-oriented training programme that you have been involved in. Please highlight the aspects that you particularly enjoyed. Response to Question 2 During my MSc I had done a project, the title of my project was "Synthesis and In-Silico Docking Study of Thiazole Scaffolds As Potential Alpha De-Methylase Cytochrome P450 and P 51 Inhibitors". During my project I had also done CADD , a very good technique for knowing about protein ligand docking. I was also involved in various chemistry experiments. During my 6 months project work I had synthesized a organic compound containing a bis-thaizole moeity., the particular compound showed a good impact as antimicrobial agents. I particularly enjoyed the work done during project, like TLC as it is a very good technique to monitor the reaction, IR spectroscopy. I also enjoyed synthesis of colorful compounds. Question 3 State the reasons on why you want to opt for JNCASR for your advanced research / academic studies. Response to Question 3 I believe JNCASR boasts very modern and abundant research facilities that will supplement your career unlike the most of the institutes in India. Even IITs do not have such a Student:Instrument ratio. Life in JNCASR is same as in every other institutes or even profession. The quality of coursework is also undoubtedly better than others. The campus of JNCASR is small as compared to other but lovely nonetheless. I believe that JNCASR is among the top institutes in INDIA as well as in world ranking. So, for all the above reasons I want to join Research in JNCASR. |
