Question 1 What is it about research as a career that interests you the most? In which subject area(s) would you like to pursue research? What led you to choose this area of research? Response to Question 1 One of the biggest advantage that makes me turn into research is that I can experiment at my own will.. I can randomly think of an idea & shall also have the independence to decide and set my own targets. The working schedule, priorities etc can be organised by myself and more or less the flexibility with time prove to be advantageous. Another merit is that I may aquire new skills which can be transferred to many other fields as well. I also believe research gives a sense of satisfaction, achievement & also help to gain social recognition & respect within the society. I would like to pursue my research in the field of Virology and would like to design a global influenza vaccine candidate. The main reason I chose for an Msc degree and thereafter a career in Virology is because I can tackle various infectious diseases & associated casualties. Many viruses are on the run presently affecting not only health but also socioeconomic conditions of the society. The current COVID-19 pandemic is a proven example for the same. Question 2 Describe any project, or laboratory experiment, or research-oriented training programme that you have been involved in. Please highlight the aspects that you particularly enjoyed. Response to Question 2 I had undergone my dissertation at National Centre for Cell Science Complex wherein I've worked on the topic : Generation of a CRISPR assisted knockout library for DNAj related co-chaperone genes of Drosophila. I've enjoyed working with fruitflies, monitoring their behaviour and interactions. The knock out of genes through the aid of CRISPR / genetic engineering had been indeed a wonderful aspect of my research there. Further my internship at Amity institute of Virology & Immunology on the topic isolation & cloning of matrix protein of influenza virus made me enjoy the artificial amplification of gene through PCR technique. Together with this cloning technique commonly adopted in biotechnology through the aid of molecular scissors & glue was another aspect that made me feel no regret for choosing biotechnology as a career field. Question 3 State the reasons on why you want to opt for JNCASR for your advanced research / academic studies. Response to Question 3 Being just a relatively young institute Jncasr has made its mark in the field of research & I feel the institute can boast itself about the very modern and abundant research facilities. The yearly publications of the faculty profiles seem to be very appealing. For my PhD research I wish to avail complex equipments to address certain fundamental questions and also work under an experienced and well established scientist who can guide me throughout the 5 year tenure and also help me establish foreign connections and hone my seafaring skills in research. Further I believe this institute is one amongst the few selective institutes in India that can provide a remarkable research ambience of multidisciplinary nature. |
I declare that all the information and entries of marks are correct to the best of my knowledge and belief. If admitted, I shall obey all the rules and regulations of the Centre. | |
