Question 1 What is it about research as a career that interests you the most? In which subject area(s) would you like to pursue research? What led you to choose this area of research? Response to Question 1 I am interested in academic development and growth in the field of Chemistry. In order to achieve, I am interested in pursuing PhD in Chemistry. I have done some work during summer project at NISER, Bhubaneswar and MSc Project. With this experience I am confident and motivated enough to pursue PhD degree and explore the world of Chemistry. I'm interested in pursuing research on material. Question 2 Describe any project, or laboratory experiment, or research-oriented training programme that you have been involved in. Please highlight the aspects that you particularly enjoyed. Response to Question 2 I have done some work during summer project at NISER, Bhubaneswar under Dr. V Krishnan on the topic "Synthesis of triaryl pyrazole for making Boron Complexes". Pyrazoles are important aromatic heterocyclic compounds containing two nitrogen atoms in their five-membered rings.They show innumerable chemical, biological properties.Some compounds have important applications in material chemistry and as brightening agents, and electro luminescence properties .They act as organic light-emitting diodes. I enjoyed synthesing the compound and separating it for other side products by column chromatography. Question 3 State the reasons on why you want to opt for JNCASR for your advanced research / academic studies. Response to Question 3 JNCASR is one of the premier institute with an aim to promote scientific research. Even though the institute is relatively young, it has been growing continuously to one of the leading research institute. It gives a great scope for the students seeking to build career as a researcher. I would be very grateful if I get the opportunity to join such institute and explore chemistry under it.
