Question 1 What is it about research as a career that interests you the most? In which subject area(s) would you like to pursue research? What led you to choose this area of research? Response to Question 1 I did my graduation in Applied Life Science from Delhi University. It is during my graduation that I got fascinated towards research, but it is during my masters which I really got into research currently going on. Determined to pursue and excel as a research scholar in the stream of Life Sciences I opted for Masters of Science in Molecular and Human Genetics, BHU.I immediately realized the benefits of pursuing my masters degree here as I got to enhance my interest in cell biology. I joined developmental biology lab during my dissertation and gained knowledge about Notch signaling in particular where i got to enhance some of my technical skills but i am still naive in scientific world and is really enthusiastic to have some impact in this world through my work. Cancer is one of the most notorious and fatal disease killing millions of people across the world every year. Notch signaling has its own activity as pro-oncogenes as well as a suppressor. In my view you dont have to do great things, but the little things you are doing in your sphere of influence can be done with great conviction and great wisdom. I am not experienced but i am fully aware of the commitment and perseverance required for research. Question 2 Describe any project, or laboratory experiment, or research-oriented training programme that you have been involved in. Please highlight the aspects that you particularly enjoyed. Response to Question 2 During my dissertation i joined developmental biology lab where i have worked on model organism Drosophila melanogaster. My objective was study expression and function of CAM of Drosophila where i studied gain of function of CAM on imaginal disc for which i have performed DAPI staining using larval stages. Gain of function studies were also done on adult tissues like Drosophila wing and eye and morphological defects where noted and i also checked effect of over expression of CAM on Notch signaling for which i performed immunostaining. Question 3 State the reasons on why you want to opt for JNCASR for your advanced research / academic studies. Response to Question 3 I always wanted to pursue research as me career option for which i looked into different universities when i came to know about JNCASR. It is very reputed university which can provide me a platform where i can fulfill my dream of becoming a researcher and enhance my knowledge about the subject. Its experienced mentor will be very helpful for me.i would be grateful to work under such charged environment like itself. |
