Question 1 What is it about research as a career that interests you the most? In which subject area(s) would you like to pursue research? What led you to choose this area of research? Response to Question 1 Finding solution to a problem is what interests me about research. To discover things that no one has found or that can give a deeper understanding of the world around us is another factor that interests me. I would like to pursue research in molecular biology. Cells are made up of various molecules, I wondered that how these non-living molecules can come together to make a living being. This is what attracted me towards the field of molecular biology, as it involves study of bio molecules, how they are synthesized and interact with each other for the survival of the cell. Question 2 Describe any project, or laboratory experiment, or research-oriented training programme that you have been involved in. Please highlight the aspects that you particularly enjoyed. Response to Question 2 I had participated in research internship under the guidance of Mr. Pavankumar Todkar, Scientific Officer, Department Of Virology at Haffkine Institute For Training, Research And Testing, Mumbai – 400 012, during period of November 2018 – April 2019. In study conducted, potential antiviral activity of Eucalyptus globulus essential oil against CVS virus was evaluated.First in silico study was performed, in which selected 6 major compound were successfully docked at the active site of viral G protein. In vitro efficacy of essential oil was carried out on BHK-21 cell line using MTT assay and antiviral activity was determined by PCR and Immunofluorescence. I enjoyed following things Designing of experimental assay. Master mix preparation and template addition in PCR and specially analysis of RT PCR graph. Data collection and docking for in silico analysis. Maintenance of Cell line. Question 3 State the reasons on why you want to opt for JNCASR for your advanced research / academic studies. Response to Question 3 JNCASR is one of the top scientific institute in India and has faculty who are well renown and expert in their field. It has well equipped experimental facilities. The most important thing of the institute is its interdisciplinary approach research, if given an opportunity shall help me improve and gain more knowledge. |
I declare that all the information and entries of marks are correct to the best of my knowledge and belief. If admitted, I shall obey all the rules and regulations of the Centre. | |
