Question 1
What is it about research as a career that interests you the most? In which subject area(s) would you like to pursue research? What led you to choose this area of research?

Response to Question 1
When I started studying in Chemistry my aim is to go deep in the subject taking a particular field. This is the
basic instinct primarily to pursue PhD. I believe that we should reach the top of the education system if we
have opportunity before us. I think a new avenue will be opened up before me when I will start my PhD
career. It is a journey to know my subject from the close aperture.
When I joined the lab for the dissertation, another world opened up before me. I came to know that there are
several materials in nanometre scale which can be so much benevolent for our society if we use them
properly. I started searching from that time and then the world of material science unlocked to me. The
material science is all about the fundamental understanding the relationship between the properties,
structure, design and surely the application. I always want that I should be able to apply science towards the
society. Therefore, I find this vast area of material science to be the most prospectus and promising in near
future. So now I want to do research in that field which really
amaze me and I can devote my concentration totally if I really get a good research environment with
excellent instrumental facilities.

Question 2
Describe any project, or laboratory experiment, or research-oriented training programme that you have been involved in. Please highlight the aspects that you particularly enjoyed.

Response to Question 2
I have done my MSc project on "Functionalised nanoparticle for the sensor application". In this work, the Cu nanoparticles were decorated on reduced graphene oxide(rGO) surface via one step green synthesis approach. The composite Cu/rGO was characterized using FT-IR, XRD, UV-Vis spectroscopic techniques and electrochemically by CV and DPV. The Cu/rGO/GCE was fabricated for the electrochemical detection of Dopamine (DA) and Uric acid(UA). The Cu/rGO/GCE showed an excellent electrocatalytic activity towards the electrochemical oxidation of DA to Dopaminochrome and UA to oxidized Uric acid witha higher current as compared to GO/GCE and bare GCE and also significantly reduced overpotential as compared to bare GCE which might be due to synergistic effectbetween Cu and rGO. The sensor showed a linear oxidation current over the concentration range 20-1000
M and 60-900
M for DA and UA respectively. Thedetection limit was found to be 2.26
M and 6.72
M for DA and UA respectively. The exceptional electrocatalytic activity, low detection limit and rapid response timetestify that the proposed sensor can be used as an electrochemical platform with a bright future for the determination of biomolecules.

Question 3
State the reasons on why you want to opt for JNCASR for your advanced research / academic studies.

Response to Question 3
As I want to pursue my research over the topic of material science, this is the most suitable institute for me I believe. It is needless to say that JNCASR provides one of the best research environment, instruments, projects in this country. ans last but not the least the renowned and eminent faculty of the institute surely intrigue a student to have his research here.

Declaration
