Question 1 What is it about research as a career that interests you the most? In which subject area(s) would you like to pursue research? What led you to choose this area of research? Response to Question 1 Research allow us to understand and explore the new things. It is very rewarding in identifying or understanding a particular phenomena through doing research. The outcome of the research can be applied in the benefits of the society as well. I am interested, pursuing research in cellular and molecular neurobiology. I am fascinating about how the nervous system modulate the behaviours of an organism hence want to do research in that fields. Question 2 Describe any project, or laboratory experiment, or research-oriented training programme that you have been involved in. Please highlight the aspects that you particularly enjoyed. Response to Question 2 In Msc I have work on the project entitled " The role of NFkB dependent histone modifications in the regulation of BDNF during reward learning and memory consolidation ". The lab that I have worked is specialized in neuroepigenetics. In the lab I get the exposure of both theoretical and practical knowledge. I have learned RT-qPCR and immunohistochemistry. The most important aspects that I have enjoyed in the lab is that I have learned how to frame a hypothesis and do proper planning to prove that hypothesis. We want to start a new project in the lab in order to do that we have explored lots of scientific papers and finally able to start the project that I have mentioned earlier. Question 3 State the reasons on why you want to opt for JNCASR for your advanced research / academic studies. Response to Question 3 JNCASR is one of the eminent research Institute in India. The work environment is really good. The departments are equipped with advance instruments . The faculty members are well renowned and with very good scientific records.
