Question 1 What is it about research as a career that interests you the most? In which subject area(s) would you like to pursue research? What led you to choose this area of research? Response to Question 1 Right from the childhood I have heard and seen people suffering from cancer. As a kid, I was not aware about the cause of this disease. When I reached higher classes and got some theoretical knowledge as well as laboratory experiences, I felt choosing research as a career, especially in the field of cancer biology will be a better option . So I could make some contribution to society more than any personal profit. Question 2 Describe any project, or laboratory experiment, or research-oriented training programme that you have been involved in. Please highlight the aspects that you particularly enjoyed. Response to Question 2 During my Masters degree I did a dissertation on Anticancer and anti angiogenic activity of peptide extracted from Hydrophylax malabaricus. I got training on cell culture, RP HPLC, and various anticancer assays and angiostatic assay. Each and every phase of dissertation gave me new knowledge. Mistakes I committed thought me how to improve designing and performing experiments. Question 3 State the reasons on why you want to opt for JNCASR for your advanced research / academic studies. Response to Question 3 While I was doing my degree, I visited JNCASR as a part of Kerala Government's Walk with a Scholar Programme. I was so much inspired by seeing the research scholars and the atmosphere of research lab.
