Question 1 What is it about research as a career that interests you the most? In which subject area(s) would you like to pursue research? What led you to choose this area of research? Response to Question 1 The never-ending quest for new knowledge, methods, and techniques is what drives me to work towards a career as a researcher. I would like to pursue my research career in the field of the structural and molecular biology of proteins with a special interest in the development of therapeutic proteins. I got interested in the field during my master's when I first purified a protein for functional studies. It really astounded me how something so small could have such intricate complexities hiding within and even more interesting was the fact that this one protein was just a cog in the interplay of biomolecular machines. This emergent property of complex systems from the basic laws of chemistry and physics led me to believe that it is the field that I want to work on in the future. Question 2 Describe any project, or laboratory experiment, or research-oriented training programme that you have been involved in. Please highlight the aspects that you particularly enjoyed. Response to Question 2 I have been involved in multiple proteomics projects, the latest and one of my favorites has been a drug-discovery project for the SARS-COV-2 Proteases. The disease has caused a lot of socio-economic damage globally and thus a rapid cure for the same is the need of the hour. While working on the project I was involved right from the clone construct design, protein expression optimization, purification, and inhibitor studies. I particularly enjoyed the molecular biology, cloning, and protein purification aspects of the project. Question 3 State the reasons on why you want to opt for JNCASR for your advanced research / academic studies. Response to Question 3 JNCASR I believe can provide me a national-level platform to develop my research skills and generate new technologies and/or products in the biotech field that can be of greater good to the people of the nation. |
I declare that all the information and entries of marks are correct to the best of my knowledge and belief. If admitted, I shall obey all the rules and regulations of the Centre. | |
