From a student who was reluctant to study a topic other than her favorite subject, she grown as an advocate of interdisciplinary research who clearly understands its depth and importance. The training given in the institute though teaching assignments and seminar and various public platforms to express herself molded her to be a confident and enthusiastic student. She completed her MSc project titled as “Attempted Reductive Cyclization of 3-Substituted Chiral Pyrrolidinediones”.She has also carried out large scale isolation of the diastereomeric (2S,3S)- and (2S,3R)-tetrahydro-3-hydroxy-5-oxo-2,3-furan dicarboxylic acids (Garcinia and Hibiscus acids) from ingenious and economically viable sources. During her undergraduate studies she has undertaken training under summer research fellowship program offered by Indian academy of sciences. Thus she is well acquainted with the laboratory techniques and gained hands on experience on analytical as well as separation techniques using instruments namely, NMR,FT-IR,UV,AAS and HPLC. Response to Question 1 Research as a career is full of creativity,passion and hardwork.I love spending time in the lab without any time restrictions like regular job.I loved to work in the field of chemical biology and synthetic organic chemistry.I love work that spend maximum time on bench therefore lesser interest in theoretical field. Response to Question 2 Synthesis Of Trimethyl 5-Methyl Indolizine-1,2,3- Tricarboxylate From (2s, 3s)-Tetrahydro-3-Hydroxy-5-Oxo-2,3 Furandicarboxylic Acid Institute of Intensive Research In Basic Sciences Under the guidance of Prof.Dr. I Ibnusaud As assistant of final year students I got the opportunity to synthesize and crystallize an indolizine derivative via a synthetic methodology developed in our lab.The project aim was to Synthesize a sub-library of indolizine alkaloids from naturally occurring hydroxy citric acids.It proceeds through the conversion of naturally occurring (2S,3S)-3-hydroxy-5-oxotetrahydrofuran-2,3-dicarboxylic acid (Garcinia acid) to indolizine alkaloid derivatives via cyclisation of mono-sulfonate esters of Garcinia acid with pyridine itself and substituted pyridines The synthetic strategy that we have developed through this project, found to be a simple and economically viable route to the therapeutically active indolizine, pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinoline, and pyrrolo[1,2-a]quinoline frameworks. .The generality of this method was demonstrated using ten pyridines of varying electronic demands.Even though this work will not be recorded as my achievement it really helped to boost my confidence.I have conducted so many batches of the same experiment and finally was asked to drop it and move on to another.
